Well ... have you been to London?

Many of you seeing this page will of course have been to, or indeed, live in London.

However, for those of you that haven't been or who don't live in London, or even those who do, you may or may not know that in addition to teaching English, I do tours of London & surrounds. This is thanks to my love of history and long-time residence in London.

Currently my separate Tour Guide website is under construction, and so in the meantime, I'm including a page here on this tutoring site about the guiding.

My good father worked as a Blue Badge Guide in London and has a great wealth of knowledge and curiosity on all things to do with London & British history. This has naturallly inspired me too and since April last year (2024), I have been giving tours of London myself.

To date, this has mainly included taking tourists around major museums and galleries and museums in London, notably: the Victoria & Albert Museum, the National Gallery, the National Portrait Gallery & the British Museum. My offering here is that of a warm-spirited local guide with a reasonable dose of historical commentary, especially on the Tudor period, as well as guiding guests from A to B.

As a lifelong local Londoner, though, there is much more I can show you.

From walks along the southbank covering Borough Market, Southwark Cathderal and Shakespeare's Globe, to Kenwood House on Hampstead Heath or the Wallace Collection tucked away behind Oxford Street, to trips out of the centre to Hampton Court or Windsor Castle, I am your enthusiastic guide!

Below listed are a set of suggested tour packages ... each of which can be customed for your own interestd and timeframe ... just drop me a line on the contact page ...

Tour Theme 1: Museums & Galleries (1 day tour)

This tour covers four major museums and galleries in London as mentioned above: the Victoria & Albert Museum, National Gallery, National Portrait Gallery and the British Museum, with a lunch stop between the two galleries (National & National Portrait) on Trafalgar Square

Tour Theme 2: Major Landmarks (1 day tour)

This tour is what you could call "The Big Three" which is: Westminster Abbey, St. Paul's Cathedral and the Tower of London. In the summer months, Buckingham Palace can be added to make it "The Big Four".

Tour Theme 3: Southside (1 day or half-day tour)

On the south of the river, there is a treasure trove of sites to uncover, including: Borough Market, Southwark Cathedral, the Golden Hinde (replica of famous Elizabethan ship), HMS Belfast and Shakespeare's Globe Theatre. This can be arranged as either a walking tour only or include visits to some or all of these sites.

Tour Theme 4: Out of town history (Hampton Court or Windsor Castle)

If you love history, there's .... rather a lot to see just a little bit outside of London. You may well know about Hampton Court Palace and Windsor Castle, royal palaces dating back 600 and 1000 years respectively. There are other places too, such as Hatfield House (built for Queen Elizabeth I) that we can arrange to visit.

Tour Theme 5: Specially designed or multi-day package

If there's a particular part of London or site that you know about and want to see, or a particular interest in something like history, or fashion, or food & wine perhaps, I can design a tour for you with these things in mind. Further to this, if you're in London for a few days and want to see lots of different things, I have 3, 5, 7 or 10 day tour packages to cover different aspects of London, including many of the venues above.

I am in the process of developing this page and the website overall/specifics on the tour information, but please feel free to contact me anyway to help make your visit to London memorable!
